A project to create a free global Wi-Fi network

Welcome all.

Recently, we launched a project to create a free global Wi-Fi network and I would like to talk about it more.

Agree, it would be great if all people would have would have free access to the Internet via Wi-Fi anywhere in the world.
A huge number of gadgets and computers support Wi-Fi, a lot of vendors make the equipment for Wi-Fi — and all this due to the fact that this range in most countries, license free.

I am convinced that is only because the spectrum for Wi-Fi is almost not regulated by States, he became so popular.

And the lack of regulation has created a huge infrastructure with billions in turnover.
This chipmakers and device manufacturers and providers, and plenty of others in the areas related to Wi-Fi.

Now, when the voice in wireless networks GSM ceases to be relevant, departs on the second plan, consumers becomes more important to have access to Internet with good speed than just be able to call.
The OTT services will sooner or later kill voice communication in GSM will remain a data transmission, i.e. mobile operators will turn into Internet service providers (3G,LTE) that we observe.

On the other hand always attempts to create a large Wi-Fi network, again due to the large number of potential consumers, and because of the relative nedorogoy equipment.
For example the famous Golden Wi-Fi, which are all considered unsuccessful.
Usually these networks were built and are based on mesh technology and mainly on nestandartno mesh, every company has his own. For example Nortel is the case with Beeline Wi-Fi, and lots of other not very well — known companies, BellAir, Tropos, Meshdynamics, etc.

There are open standards mesh, the most famous is the OLSR and Batman.
The main disadvantages of such systems — the degradation speed with the increase of number of hops.
Pluses — cheapness of iron and the ease of deployment.

Big problem when building Wi-Fi mesh networks is the need to install a very large amount of AP, as the radius is small.
But if done outdoor AP, the cost of housing for external use and connect, rent and other very expensive project.
For example, if you take the cost of iron for Beeline Wi-Fi, outdoor one point was worth about$ 1,500, although in the same indoor performance worth 100-150$.

In this regard, we had the idea to attract partners who would have access point Wi-Fi at home or in the office, cafes, hairdressers and other places.

Thus, the problem of bakola, because you would use the existing wired connection to the Internet and if you would use the mesh, only for a small expansion of coverage — in this case, there will be little hops and degradation of speed will be minimal.

But how to interest a potential partner? Hardly anyone will do such a network for free.

We decided to do so — the owner makes a profit on each one to view ads. We, in turn, run ads in these points and collect money from advertisers.
The idea seemed very interesting and we made a software to account for transitions, private offices for advertisers, owners points.
We also made the decision to stop BATMAN mesh a little finished the controller for points and stopped at the iron company Acton for access points.
A few months of testing has shown good results in terms of reliability and iron, and controller and we decided to promote this project.
