A visual life lesson

When I retrained into programmers of their friends, I noticed an interesting thing. People who have already worked somewhere, were ' very willing. And the more was their experience outside of it, the harder they worked. Those who were still students, at times even freebies.

After talking with those and others, I noticed that the students are the last to believe in "magic work" that awaits them after graduation.

Further, for those who have not yet removed the rose-colored glasses — the guide to the real world.

Each of us has needs. The need for family, friends, home, work, Hobbies, ...
But I would like to talk about one of the most important and always actual: the desire to live well and make good money.

This need is most people. And everyone is trying to meet her through work, profession and career. And it is logical to think the achievement of this goal through professional development and self-realization. Who among us would not want to become a highly qualified specialist, professional international level: recognition, respect, high income, great opportunity – it sounds great.

And what is the plan of action of all these millions and billions of future superior employees? Quite often, the plan looks like this: finishing school, preparing for University, go to College, study, finish University, find a good job, work, make chic a career, go on a holiday.

This plan only seems correct, but it's not.

Correct a wrong plan differs from the plan that the right plan leads to the goal, but wrong no.

The above plan does not take into account such a number of things from real life that I don't know how to call it: the primitive, outdated, or just wrong.

What this does not take into account "the most common plan for success in the world"?

the

Competition

1 the Winner takes it all

The top 5% of specialists receive 50% of all the money. Top 20% of specialists receive 80% of all the money.

Some companies are looking for a better employee, and others cheaper. The first are not afraid to overpay, but I want to get the best for the money that you have. Second want to pay the small amount of money for the minimum quality that will suit them.

You will start your career path from the leftmost point of the graph. And best of all to be in the right part. You have a long way. You need to get at least his right half. A specialist from the right side of the graph different from the expert from the left side with experience and quality of experience.

While you are in the left half, the number of professionals like you in the labour market much more than the demand for them. So it's a buyer's market (employer). And you have to compete with the same as you for the lousy job.

But once you've gained enough experience, and passed into the right half, the rules begin to change. Demand begins to exceed supply and wages start to rise. 5 years of good experience can result in a 10 fold increase in salary. So, I think, look around, and learn.

But even better is to get in the top 5% of specialists. Then your fees will be limited only by the supply of money from your clients/employers. Want to hire the best – let pays best. Just like at auction.

Smart and hard working person able to enter in top 20% of professionals in 5 years. And for the next 5 years – 5% of the best specialists. Here, of course, need a lot of to educate ourselves and frequently change jobs. Sometimes work beyond measure.

But don't need much (long) run. the Best expert makes no more work, he does a better job. Best of all. So it is impossible to replace ten average workers.
If the presidential election you got 48% votes and the second candidate 47%. You do not receive the support of the majority, you have not surpassed its rival twice. You beat him on one, just one cent! But you will become President and get all, but he will remain a nobody and get nothing.

2 Losers get nothing

If you are already enrolled in College, then you probably heard about the "competition 5-10 people in place". Out of 1,000 entrants in the contest, 10 people in place, students will be only 100, the remaining 900 will not receive anything.

what do you think will happen when you finish College and will be looking for a job? Competition will increase significantly!

Suppose you are graduating this year the faculty of law at Moscow (took example not from it). Even in Moscow there are only 10 universities that together annually produce 1000 lawyers. On the market there are two vacancies with a salary of $3000, 8 vacancies with a salary of $1000, and thirty vacancies in the public organizations with a salary of $300.

Bummer 1: 1000 "lawyers" with 40 vacancies. That is, only 40 of the 1000's of lawyers will get work in the profession, and the remaining 960 people who have spent 5 years to study in high school, go to work "sales managers".

Bummer 2: are You one of the 40 best lawyers-graduates, what are your chances to get a job? Much less than 100%, there is still cronyism, family profession, the employment on acquaintance, etc. Most of these 40 jobs are occupied by sons, nieces and grandchildren of the top managers of these companies.

Bummer 3: You the best graduate of his year, but the real practical experience you have not yet. But good jobs on the market will qualify, and people who have 3-5 years working in the specialty. They have acquired experience, reputation and contacts made. So maybe will have to start from the bottom.

Bummer 4: You will have 3 years old to work for "free" work for the experience and simultaneously to educate ourselves, and only then you will be able to compete for good jobs with a future, a future valuable experiences and high salary. This stage was held at the University. But you were in our "nice, but useless University", so now I have to do it all themselves.

3 you don't Have anything

All you have is a diploma, and it is not worth the paper they're printed on in the eyes of your future employer. Often the employer knows the "real price" of your diploma and its microscopic favor compared to the actual experience.

You have a higher education? Who doesn't? We half of the country with higher education. It's like a certificate that you're not a fool, that's all. there is No benefit from "useless legacy of education". From a driver's license more sense.

the

I — best

Well, if you have decided to become the best, you too will find a lot of "magical surprises".

1. the Best is the enemy of good

To be better means to be better than others, to surpass them and different from them. You can't do what and all to be the best. You need your way.

You can't be best in everything while you study everything, someone specializiruetsya on one thing. The best way to become better is to choose a very narrow specialization and to become a world-class expert.

If you're in ballet with five years at 8 hours a day, there will always be someone who deals with three years and 10 hours a day. For fifteen years his experience will exceed your 5000 hours. And then there are the geniuses, for every hour you need to do three. And the world's best teachers, and you, for example, a self-taught.

The only way to become the best, not having their unique way (to be like everyone) is to work very hard, be talented, have good teachers and wealthy parents. Although it is not quite "all", Yes?
But even the most quick and hardworking in the world a horse can't outrun the car. need its own strategy, its own unique plan to become the best, without sacrificing all.

2 become not just the Best

There is always someone who started before you. Someone has rich parents, someone who studied in the best University in the world. Someone's parents took to their work. Nothing to worry about. Happen. This is called different starting conditions. But these people are a minority, the world is full of people who have achieved success, thanks to his creative thinking, hard work and ability to constantly learn new things.

Life is like a game of cards. Any win if he handed out some cards, professional wins regardless of the cards dealt. It brings their influence to a minimum in their skills.

Nobody understands this as good as professional athletes. Many of them only have a few years to realize the chance to achieve success.

3 there is Always someone who is willing to work more than you

A lot of people. Among them are workaholics, perfectionists and people who just love with its work. Yes, many of them sacrifice family, friends, and willing to work 80 hours a week. Work is their life. This path is not for us. But they're able to push you career to the roadside. You are not willing to spend 6 months a year on business trips, to get a promotion and they are ready.

the Average Chinese student is harder than ours, and a Chinese employee is willing to do your job for a quarter of your salary.

A lot of work – not the way to success, but to work a little path to defeat.

4 Cultural environment

In "our" culture is not accepted by many and work honestly. If the institution you study a lot, lost in the library, and themselves pass all the exams, you books. But if "nothing is taught and passed" or "all off", then you're good. a lot of Hard and honest work, when your friends, colleagues, society and you, yourself, despise yourself for it.

It is difficult to strive for success when the society itself hates rich and successful. Hates and envies. Poor people, getting into the money, are beginning to put their wealth on display. Do rich people behave more modest: Abramovich can go with glasses for $10, because they and without them he is Abramovich.

You have to love your life and your time. Money is just a tool that makes you financially independent. But if you are financially independent, then you can do whatever you want and not to do, what you don't want.

Be careful with "victims" when you become the best. Don't sacrifice the truly important things: family, friends, health and favorite work. To be financially successful in 50 years and not have family, friends, health, not to love is not success, it is failure.
